The 7th Haddo Arts Festival took place from 6-13 October 2018 and included events and activities in all parts of Haddo: the House, the Hall and the Country Park. The varied programme celebrated the old and the new, in keeping with the artistic tradition of Haddo House.

From the traditional Opening Concert by the Haddo House Choral & Operatic Society under Musical Director, Dr Paul Tierney, to the premiere of a two act revue “Tipping the Hat to Flanders and Swann”, and including chamber music from the Enescu Piano Quartet, a piano recital by Murray McLachlan and an evening of Scots poetry and music, the Festival was designed to offer the very best night out to as wide an audience as possible.

Over 100 pupils from Barthol Chapel, Tarves, Daviot, New Deer, Pitfour and Pitmedden primary schools worked with McOpera, players from the Scottish Opera orchestra, on composer Errollyn Wallen’s Friday Afternoon Songs. These were given a public performance on the Thursday evening of the Festival, accompanied by string players from Inverurie, Meldrum and Ellon Academies with Errollyn Wallen present for the rehearsals and the performance.

The Aberdeen Artists Society exhibition included works by some 200 artists, on display across three sites at Haddo, and attracted some 2,600 visitors during the Festival and following weekend.
