Event information

Nikita Lukinov and the RCS Ensemble perform two Romantic Masterpieces, Schumann’s Quintet and Grieg’s Piano Concerto, in an intimate setting.

This concert offers an evening of Romantic music-making at its most expressive and engaging, uniting two much-loved masterpieces in an unusually intimate format. Schumann’s Piano Quintet — one of the great cornerstones of the chamber repertoire — brings together poetry, energy and dialogue between piano and strings, while Grieg’s celebrated Piano Concerto, presented in its septet arrangement, retains its grandeur and drama within a more personal setting.

Pianist Nikita Lukinov is joined by an ensemble of outstanding string players for a performance that highlights both the scale and subtlety of these works. Nikita has appeared widely across the UK, Europe, Asia and Russia, including at Wigmore Hall, Palau de la Música in Barcelona, Shanghai Opera House and Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow. His performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio Scotland. Audiences across Scotland have recently heard him during an extensive 40-recital tour during the 2024/25 season.

Alongside performing, Nikita Lukinov is a piano lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he also completed his studies. His playing is known for its brilliance, imagination and charismatic stage presence. This concert promises an evening of music that is at once powerful, reflective and deeply human — to be enjoyed in the beautiful surroundings of Haddo.
