Scottish Country Dance at Haddo Hall: Liam Stewart Scottish Dance Band, Hosted by Gary Coull

Gary began dancing at the age of 10 in Dufftown, Scotland with Jessie Stuart as his teacher and gained his full teaching certificate in 2013. Gary has taught at various events in Scotland, England, Europe, North America and Australia. He is currently the Chair of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) and thinks the most important thing about Scottish country dancing is having fun! 3 years ago he, along with fellow dancer Isobel Michie, set up Insch Ceilidh Club with a focus on family ceilidh sessions. By day Gary works for the University of Aberdeen, is married to Joanna and has 2 children, Bess and Flora.

The Liam Stewart Band comprises champion musicians and much sought-after entertainers!  Led by four-time and current All Scotland Accordion Champion, Liam Stewart, this group delivers a unique brand of music for every occasion.  They are much in demand as wedding and corporate suppliers and continue to perform at a variety of live music events, throughout the UK.  Liam has amassed an impressive CV throughout his 30+ years musical career; performances for several European Royal families, live and recorded radio broadcasts, films… and much more! The band’s successful debut album, ‘As Promised’, is full of expert playing and variety!  Other recordings include RSCDS Book 9 and, more recently, the fantastic ‘Carnforth Collection’, demonstrating the band’s prowess in the Country Dance idiom.
