On 24 August, Orchestra Nova Movie Classics @ Haddo offer a selection of music from iconic films ranging from The Magnificent Seven to Schindler’s List, via The Lord of the Rings, Braveheart, Love Actually, the Bond movies and everyone’s favourite singalong, The Sound of Music.
On 11 September, we partner with Aberdeen Art Gallery for a Lunchbreak Piano Recital by outstanding young Scottish pianist Ethan Loch: “From Bach to Ravel – The Voices in my Head”, showcasing composers crucial to his musical journey, whose voices he carries with him wherever he goes. The concert will include a short Q&A exploring how Ethan, blind from birth, approaches music and the piano.
On 13 September, Peter Hunter gives the David &June Gordon Lecture. He will take a new look at George Gordon, Lord Byron, his Aberdeen childhood and links with the Haddo Gordons, using images from the collection at Harrow School. The lecture will be preceded by a short recital from North East Scotland Music School scholarship students.
Our season finishes on Saturday 11 October with the welcome return of Scottish Opera to Haddo with their Autumn Opera Highlights. Also that weekend, the Haddo House Choral & Operatic Society will give a concert in Haddo Chapel on Sunday afternoon, and there will be a Choral Evensong Service.
