Jamie MacDougall stars in a recreation of Jimmy Logan’s acclaimed musical play celebrating the life of Sir Harry Lauder, the Portobello boy who became a global superstar, the highest paid and most popular entertainer of his time and the first British artist to sell a million records.
An exploration of the public and private personas of the Scottish music hall legend, this rags to riches story is packed with Lauder’s hit songs, including the evergreen I Love a Lassie and Roamin’ in the Gloamin’.
Tenor Jamie MacDougall is one of Scotland’s most versatile artists. He balances a busy life on the concert platform with a life behind the microphone. Since 2001 he has been BBC Radios Scotland’s voice of classical music and he regularly presents for Radio 3. In 2003 he presented BBC TV’s first Proms in the Park from Glasgow and he now regularly anchors the event. On the concert platform he has appeared at international festivals with many of the world’s leading orchestras and has recorded over 40 CDs including his solo disc Inspirations.
